About Mike

Sometimes all it takes is a little push and you're heading in the right direction.
For me that push was quitting my job in advertising and event management after 5 years, spending 2 months living in the Kalahari Desert, re-connecting with nature, and igniting my passion for natural eating and living.
I spent 2 months with almost no contact with the "outside world", working in the African Bush and fending for myself in every sense of the word. It was a life altering experience.
What I quickly learned while buying food for my 2 month excursion was this: The produce at the supermarket in Maun, Botswana is better than almost anything you can buy in the supermarket in the U.S.
How can vegetables in Botswana taste better than what we can get at Whole Foods?
The answer is simple. Food tastes better when it is fresh!
When it is grown locally and not bred specifically to spend weeks on planes, trucks, etc.
Amazingly enough, it was spending time away from "civilization" that lead to my evolution from being just like every other oblivious shopper wandering aimlessly through the super market, to questioning not only what I was eating, but HOW it was grown and WHERE it was coming from.
When I returned home I was 20 pounds lighter, in the best shape of my life, and more importantly, committed to sharing what I had learned.
I became a student of not only healthy eating, but learning how our food is grown, where the seeds come from, how it is cared for, raised, packaged, shipped, and displayed. I read countless books, attended lectures at some of the most prestigious locations in the Northeast, Volunteered at Stone Barns Center for Food and Agriculture (in Pocantico Hills, NY), and immersed myself in the culture of sustainable farming and agriculture in the Northeast.
It was all of these interconnected experiences, combined with a lifetime of cooking, gardening, fine dining and outdoor living, that Mike's Organic Delivery was born.
I hope to offer you a service that will make you and your family healthier and happier, while supporting our local farmers, saving the environment, and educating consumers about the importance of good eating.
